Exhibit Installer with Fabrication Experience and Strong PC Proficiency

Snibbe Interactive (www.snibbeinteractive.com) is looking for a person with installation experience, fabrication knowledge, and strong proficiency with PCs to assist with producing and installing our interactive exhibits. Your duties will include constructing prototypes in our studio, fabricating wood and plastic enclosures, preparing shipments and traveling to domestic and international locations for on-site installation. 

Snibbe Interactive is a fast-growing company that creates large-scale personalized interactive experiences for science museums, branding, and entertainment. Some of our recent installations have taken place at the Beijing Olympics, the California Academy of Sciences, the London Science Museum, Sony's New York Headquarters, and many others. Our work has unique characteristics for bringing joy, social engagement, and meaning to the everyday lives of ordinary people.

Key skills required:

• Light carpentry or exhibit installation experience.
• Proficiency with PC and Mac platforms and ability to troubleshoot computer problems.
• Good fabrication skills, especially with wood and plastic.
• Familiarity with technical drawings ranging from architectural to shop drawings.
• Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work in stressful environments while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
• Willingness and availability for occasional week-long travel assignments.
• Preference will be given to applicants with Google Sketchup proficiency, A/V installation experience, projection experience, and basic understanding of electronics.
  

Responsibilities:

• Construct prototypes from start to finish to specifications.
  
• Install PCs and projectors.
  
• Build small closures to specification.
  
• Prepare shipments and confirm packing lists.
  
• Travel to installation sites and ensure client satisfaction with quality of installation and  service experience.
  
• Maintain studio and shop conditions to a high level of efficiency and maintain inventory areas.
  

You will have an opportunity to make a contribution to international public interactive media projects seen each year by millions of people. Snibbe Interactive provides a uniquely positive, playful and kind workplace. This position is a contract position based in San Francisco paid at an hourly rate. Currently we anticipate needing a 1/4 time commitment in addition to the travel requirements. The amount may increase and your willingness to be flexible as our demands change will be appreciated.
